How to get here

Getting to Westman Islands and our guesthouse is a great experience on its own, no matter how you choose to travel.

You choose between taking the ferry or flying.

The ferry is called Herjólfur and it sails between the mainland and Westman Islands all year round. Most of the time it sails from Landeyjahöfn but sometimes, when the ferry is unable to sail there, it sails from Þorlákshöfn. The drive from Reykjavík to Landeyjahöfn is about 2 hours and from Reykjavík to Þorlákshöfn is about 45 minutes, under favorable conditions. The sailing time from Landeyjahöfn is 35 minutes and from Þorlákshöfn it’s 2 hours and 45 minutes. See more information about the ferry here.

There are at least two airlines that fly from Reykjavík to the Westman Islands; Eagle air and Icelandair. The flight takes 20 minutes. Please note that the departure is from the small airport in Reykjavík, not from the international airport in Keflavík. See more information about the flights here and here.

Once you arrive at the beautiful Westman islands, your best bet is to call for a taxi. The local taxi is called Eyjataxi and the phone number is (+354) 698 2038

If you take the ferry, you can also go on foot to The New Post Office, it’s a short 10 minute walk.

The address of our guesthouse The New Post Office is Vestmannabraut 22, see picture for the walking route from the ferry to the guesthouse.
